External Groups

There are various external groups who hire our halls for use during the week:

  • The Hoghton Players

Hoghton Players Logo

The Hoghton Players Gilbert and Sullivan Society was founded at Hoghton Street Baptist Church in 1952 to help train the young people of the church in music and drama. When the church closed in the 1960s the congregation joined with the Baptist Tabernacle to form Scarisbrick New Road Baptist Church and the Hoghton Players continued to rehearse at this new venue.

Membership of the society covers all age groups and applications are welcome from anyone who would like to learn more about the Gilbert and Sullivan operas. We continue to encourage young people and to this end are introducing some rewritten libretto and enhanced choreography into our productions. For more information please go to www.hoghtonplayers.com
